Dan Carlin is beyond an excellent story teller. Matched with his passion for history this particular podcast in my opinion is better than most film and television I've seen lately, and I know its audio!! I think often of this story and how it parallels with today
It starts in the early fifteenth century after the fall of Rome and the beginning of the Dark Ages when the catholic church grew drunk on power and amongst other things began charging people for a place in heaven. An Augustian Monk/Lawyer by the name of Martin Luther decided to risk his life in order to translate the bible from Latin (which only priest could speak and read at the time) to German, so the common folk could interpret what God was saying for themselves. This four hour podcast is based on the chaos and cult like behavior that followed revolving around power and influnence that humans sometimes have the proclivity to take part in.
